It has been nearly a month since I was laid off from my prior job but things have been as hectic as ever. I know for a fact I have developed more in the past month than I had over the last two or three months at the my job. During this “down-time” I have been assisting in launching a couple projects, but apparently it is quite a bit tougher than we had assumed. I should have known, I’ve been down this road before!

I mean, we had a bit of a pipe-dream, essentially bootstrapping our businesses and hoping to hit numbers which can sustain us within a month. I am sure it has been done, and I am sure we could have done it, but there are so many moving parts it is hard for a small team to get it rolling that fast, in our case at least. The good thing is, my part was mostly upfront work, of which most is done and the remaining can be done in an after-hours fashion.

To mark the end of my one month “sabbatical” of working for the man, I am going to Vegas for 4 days with my Wife, Brother, his Buddy and my Aunts to celebrate my Brother’s 21st birthday. It should be a good, drunken time. And according to the wife, “The second we get back home on Sunday, you go put your resume back on the internet and get a job!”, so that is the plan, unless something major changes. You know, something like, I win the lottery, I win big in Vegas, or a project takes off.

What will happen? We will have to wait and see!
